YES. HE’S BACK. The Lotus F1 team have released this video proclaiming “The return of a legend…”
And how right they are. The straight-talking, no-nonsense-taking Finn who won the 2007 world championship has driven an F1 car for the first time since the end of the 2009 season, having been unceremomiously dumped out of his seat at Ferrari in favour of Fernando Alonso. Although by doing so, the Italian team breached their contract with Kimi and had to pay out a massive amount as a result.
Raikkonen was driving 2010’s Renault R30 at Valencia today in order to get back up-to-speed before the launch of the 2012 car next month.
Kimi went on to try his hand at rallying and even a bit of NASCAR truck racing but he couldn’t stay away and The Iceman will make his Formula One comback with Lotus, who’s innovative ride height adjustment system has this week been banned by the FIA who initially approved its legality.
