THE STEED PICK-UP becomes the first Chinese car to go on volume sale in the UK.
Great Wall may not be a familiar name in the UK but they are one of China’s biggest brands and the Steed is priced keenly to attract buyers. Prices start at just £13,998 for the S model, making it the cheapest pick-up truck on sale.
Great Wall also boasts that the four-wheel-drive Steed is the cheapest pick-up to run as well, with the lowest insurance rating and a possible 37.7mpg from the newly-developed 2.0 litre turbodiesel engine.
Standard equipment on the Steed S includes; 16-inch alloy wheels, air-conditioning, heated front leather seats, daytime running lights, electric front and rear windows and an Alpine radio with MP3 and Bluetooth connectivity.
The range topping SE model starts at £15,998 and adds a body-coloured hard-top canopy, chrome trim, black roof rails, a load bay liner, and rear parking sensors.
As a workhorse the four-door, four-seat Steed measures up quite competitively against bigger, more expensive rivals like the Nissan Navara, with a loadbay measuring 1,380mm x 1,460mm and with a maximum payload of 1,050kg.
The Steed is on sale through 40 Great Wall dealerships in the UK and comes with a three-year, 60,000-mile warranty. Visit the Great Wall website for more info.
