Pug1off creates updated Peugeot 205 GTI ‘195’

PEUGEOT SPECIALISTS PUG1OFF have created an updated 205 GTI fit for the 21st century.

The Peugeot 205 GTI is already an icon amongst petrolheads but Brackley based Pug1off decided that it needed to be reborn, to allow it to fight once again for top hot hatch honours.

Take your 205 GTI to them and their team will replace the original 130bhp, 1.9 litre engine with the 167bhp, 2.0 litre from the 306 GTI-6, complete with new clutch, cambelt, water pump and 12-month/10,000 mile warranty. This gives the car a power-to-weight ratio of 186bhp per ton, all for just £2220.

It doesn’t have to end there though. As long as you’ve got the money you can have a huge raft of extra upgrades including the Stage 2 ‘195’ power upgrade which boosts power to 195bhp through replacement camshafts, exhaust manifold, inlet housing and a remapped ECU for an additional £1595.

Pug1off can also replace the five-speed manual gearbox with the six-speed from the 306 GTI-6 including a Quaife limited slip differential, 4.8:1 final drive ratio, uprated rose jointed gear linkages and shortshifter for £2190. Other upgrades include:

  • 2.5 inch diameter stainless steel exhaust system, £420.00
  • Group N engine mounts, £156.00
  • Alloy bottom engine pulley, £72.00
  • Lightweight billet steel flywheel, £309.60
  • Group N-spec suspension components and full suspension geometry set up, £2750
  • Front brake upgrade featuring grooved discs, £725

To have the full works done (as in the car pictured at the top) will cost around £10,000 but there is an extensive list of upgrades at all manner of different price ranges, contact the Pug1off website for full details and pricing.

Beautiful looking GTi but,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,why oh why, spoil the overall effect with ugly ‘knock-on’ wheel balance weights,,,,??? I have a [very] low mileage 1993 1.9 GTi of which l am very proud and when l changed all four tyres, l had ‘stick-on’ balance weights attached to the inside of each wheel on the rear of the wheel which do not spoil the effect of those very handsome wheel rims,,,,!!!
