SEAT HAS DEBUTED the concept version of its new hot Ibiza supermini at the Beijing motorshow.
SEAT say its new Renaultsport Clio and Fiesta ST rival is being shown as a “close-to-production” concept and is fitted with a 1.4 litre, turbocharged and supercharged, TSI petrol engine producing 178bhp and 184lb/ft torque.
Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a seven-speed, paddle-shift DSG gearbox and an XDS electronic differential.
The performance is backed up with aggressive looks; at the front there is a larger grille and air intakes, detailed bi-xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights and large foglights.
Elsewhere there are 17-inch alloys wheels and a larger rear bumper featuring a matte black diffuser and large, central exhaust.
Inside there is a new sports steering wheel, leather sports seats with Crono yellow highlights to match the exterior paint and the new SEAT Portable System; a five-inch removable screen which can be used for sat-nav, hands-free phone calls, voice controls and the onborad computer. The SEAT Portable System will eventually become an option across the whole Ibiza range.
