TAKE A LOOK at the most important cars from the 2012 Beijing Motorshow in our picture round-up.

A lot of exciting concept cars were unveiled in Beijing; here they are, along with some important new production cars too.

Audi RS Q3 Concept

It might only be a concept but you can be pretty sure a hot version of Audi’s baby SUV will make production, albeit with slightly toned down styling, sooner rather than later. It is the first SUV to wear the RS badge and is powered by a 355bhp, 2.5 litre TFSI petrol engine which can get the hotted-up Q3 to 62mph in 5.2 seconds and on to a 165mph top speed.

Lamborghini Urus Concept

Lamborghini’s long anticipated Porsche Cayenne rival was revealed in concept form at Beijing. Not many details were revealed besides a 600bhp power figure and a £150,000 price tag. Rumours suggest that it could be powered by the VW group’s 4.0 litre, twin-turbo V8 or 6.0 litre W12. Bosses expect the Urus to triple annual sales figures.

MG Icon Concept

Quite a departure, but this compact coupe/SUV will be an important car for a resurgent MG as stylish, small SUV’s grow in popularity. The Icon is a four-seater and the exterior styling takes cues from MGs of the past, including the MGB GT and MGA.

Mercedes Style Coupe Concept

Mercedes pretty much single-handedly invented the ‘coupe-styled executive saloon’ genre with their CLS and this Style Coupe Concept takes it on a step. Not only does it preview CLS’ of the future but styling cues that will feature on other future Mercedes models too.

Fiat Viaggio

The four-door Viaggio (Voyage in English) is a product of the Fiat/Chrysler collaboration. Based on the US Dodge Dart, the Viaggio has recieved a mild re-style and is available with 120bhp and 150bhp versions of the 1.4 litre turbocharged T-Jet petrol engine mated to a five-speed manual gearbox or Fiat’s latest Dual Dry Clutch Trasnmission.

SEAT Ibiza Cupra Concept

Although technically a concept, the latest Ibiza Cupra will reach production virtually unchanged. It is powered by a turbocharged and supercharged, 178bhp, 1.4 litre petrol engine and features an electronic differential and a seven-speed, paddle-shift DSG gearbox. Styling features include LED running lights, rear diffuser and a central exhaust.
