BENTLEY WILL RETURN to the racetrack with a GT3-spec Continental GT.
Expected to use a race-tuned version of either the 6.0-litre W12 engine or the 4.0-litre V8 engine. Other changes over the road car will include a sequential gearbox, massive weight savings, an extensive aerodynamics package and rear-wheel drive in place of the road car’s four-wheel-drive system.
The Continental GT3 will make its racing debut at the end of 2013 before a full campaign in 2014 where it will take on the likes of the Mercedes SLS, Audi R8, Porsche 911 and McLaren MP4-12C GT racers.
The car is being developed in-house under the supervision of Bentley’s head of motorsport Brian Gush, who was also in charge of the 2003 Le Mans 24 hour-winning Speed 8 project.
