ASTON MARTIN HAS unveiled the fastest Vantage yet, the 565bhp V12 S.
The S replaces the standard V12 at the top of the Vantage range and, with the exception of the ultra-rare One-77, is the fastest Aston Martin road car to date.
The 6.0-litre V12 engine has been upgraded, meaning power is boosted from 510bhp to 565bhp, while torque rises from 420lb ft to 457lb ft at 5750rpm. The increased power output also means the top speed rises from 190mph to 205mph. These figures put it squarely in the sights of the new Porsche 911 Turbo S.
Other changes include a race-derived Sportshift III automated-manual paddle-shift gearbox, which is 25kg lighter than the previous six-speed manual, and a new lighter exhaust system inspired by that of the One-77.
Exterior changes are purely cosmetic but include a new carbonfibre mesh grille in place of the famous aluminium vanes, lightweight forged alloy wheels and black roof and bootlid. Aston Martin Chief Executive Officer Dr Ulrich Bez said, “The new V12 Vantage S is our most extreme Vantage to date – engineered to bring race car performance and technology to the open road.”
As yet, Aston Martin have not revealed price details for the S but expect it to top the £136,000 standard V12 coupe.
