2013 MK3 Skoda Octavia vRS

SKODA HAS FINALLY unveiled the hot vRS version of the new Octavia.

Skoda’s Golf GTI rival has broken cover in these official pictures released today. The new car promises to be the fastest ever Octavia and boasts 217 bhp from a 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine, lending it a 6.8 second 0-62mph time and a 154mph top speed. There is also a 2.0-litre TDI diesel which produces 181bhp and manages 0-62mph in 8.1 seconds and a 144mph top speed. Each engine is available with either a six-speed manual or six-speed DSG gearbox.

Thanks to standard-fit stop-start and brake energy regeneration technology, the new MK3 vRS consumes up to 19% less fuel too.

Suspension is lowered by 12mm over the standard Octavia, while the new multi-link rear axle, electronic diff lock and electro-mechanical steering have been tuned to improve traction and reduce understeer.

As with the previous generations, the Octavia vRS is also available in ‘Combi’ estate form.

Exterior styling cues are subtle but include honeycomb grilles, more aggressive bumper designs, rear diffuser, twin chrome tailpipes, boot spoiler, red brake calipers and multiple alloy wheel designs in 17″, 18″ and 19″ sizes.
