Nissan to revive Pulsar name with new family hatch

Nissan Pulsar GTI-R

NISSAN WILL REVIVE the cult Pulsar name for its new hatchback, due for launch later in autumn 2014.

Nissan’s new Ford Focus and Vauxhall Astra rival will be called Pulsar, a name that will evoke memories of the Group A WRC rally car (above) and the fearsome GTI-R hot hatch. The latter developed a cult following due to its performance and outrageous styling, which included bonnet vents, big rear spoiler and deep bumpers.

No real details have yet been announced for the new Pulsar, let alone any confirmation of a GTI-R follow-up, other than the teaser image above and the fact that the five-door hatch has been designed “to meet the specific demands of European car buyers”
