GOOGLE HAS REVEALED a video of the prototype of its new autonomous car.
We’ve all heard how ‘driverless’ autonomous cars will fill the roads of the future. Well, Google is bringing that future closer to the present as it looks to build 100 prototypes, with backup manual controls, of its new self-driving car to test on public roads before running a trial scheme in California in the next few years.
The cars themselves are simple; limited to 25mph and with just two seats (seatbelt equipped), luggage space, stop/start buttons and a screen displaying the route.
The cars use sensors to scan the road ahead and around the car to spot hazards and eradicate blind spots.
This news marks a big step forward for technology but a big step backwards for those of us who consider driving more than just a chore that takes us from A to B. And yes, it does look like a koala.
