SKODA UNVEILS 2015 S2000-Spec Fabia rally car at Essen Motorshow.
The new concept previews Skoda’s 2015 Fabia R5 rally car, built to S2000 specifications. Powered by a turbocharged 1.6-litre petrol engine, the Fabia R5 is equipped with a sequential five-speed gearbox and MacPherson strut suspension and will have a minimum weight of 1230kg.
The Fabia R5 follows on from the first and second generation Fabia’s which also spawned rally-going versions, the latter going on to dominate the Intercontinental Rally Challenge.
R5 rally regulations are designed to provide near-World Rally Championship levels of performance at considerably lower costs, with cars eligible for championships all over the world.
The Essen Motorshow, Germany’s top tuning and performance motorshow, will also see the public debut of the new Fabia estate as well as playing host to other special Skodas including Monte Carlo editions of the Citigo, Yeti and Rapid, the Yeti Xtreme, Citigo SPORT and convertible Citijet.
