LOTUS HAS REVEALED its 2015 F1 car, the E23, and the prong nose is gone!
By their own admission, 2014 was a very poor year for Lotus. Race winners and podium finishers over the last few years, ’14 saw Lotus score just 10 points.
Lotus have been hard at work over the winter, ditching the underpowered and unreliable Renault engine in favour for the title-winning Mercedes powerplant.
“The E23 Hybrid represents a new era for Lotus F1 Team, not only in the change to a Mercedes Benz Power Unit, but also it is the fruition of a busy winter behind the scenes. Improvements within our Design, Aero and Simulation departments have all contributed to the development of a car which is a huge step forward” said CEO Matthew Carter.
The car features a lower, single piece nose as mandated by the new regulations, but unlike the Williams unveiled last week, the tip is at the end of the main nose section rather than a small extended section to keep the main nose section higher.
