ASTON MARTIN HAS taken the wraps off its hardcore V12 Vulcan track car.
Powered by a front-mid mounted 800bhp 7.0-litre V12 engine, the new all-carbon Aston Martin Vulcan is set to be quite an experience on track.
However, on track is the only place the 24 lucky (and wealthy) owners will be able to experience their new Aston Martin Vulcan because, like the Ferrari FXX-K and McLaren P1 GTR, it is not road legal but Aston will be running several track days and events specially for Vulcan owners.
Included in this track day package will be intensive track driving training by experienced Aston Martin racers like Darren Turner and even F1-style simulator sessions.
The Vulcan uses technology and knowledge gained from Aston Martin’s extensive GT racing programme and the Vulcan feautres a carbon fibre monocoque and body, an integral limited-slip differential, a magnesium torque tube with carbon fibre propeller shaft, Brembo racing calipers and carbon ceramic brake discs, Xtrac six-speed sequential shift gearbox, Michelin race tyres and an extensive aero package including huge rear diffuser and wing.
The 24 Vulcans being made will be available in 2016 and there is not yet an announced price but if those previous ventures from Ferrari and McLaren are anything to go by, we can probably expect a price well north of £1 million.
