CITROEN HAS GIVEN us a glimpse of the 2017 WRC regulations with their C3 Concept.
So far, all we have seen of the new 2017 WRC regulations is heavily disguised and camouflaged test mules from Citroen, VW, Hyundai, Toyota and Ford. These new WRC regulations will see cars become faster and significantly more extreme due to an increase in power from 300 to 380bhp and a 25kg weight loss.
There will also be significant advances in aerodynamics too, with a relaxation of the rules regarding rear diffusers and bodywork length and width, leading to cars looking much more aggressive and exciting.
Watch the Citroen C3 WRC Concept video below:
Citroen will make a full-time, manufacturer-backed return to the WRC next year, after taking half a step back in recent years to focus on the development of the new C3 and its World Touring Car Championship program. A full driver line-up is yet to be announced, but lead driver will be Colin McRae’s former protégé, Northern Irishman Kris Meeke.
We really can’t wait to see these new extreme cars in action on the stages in 2017. Hopefully the World Rally Championship can finally get back to the glory days!
